When talking about islands, we will imagine those beautiful beaches, luxurious beach resorts, blue ocean waves, and fascinating shapes of corals and shells. There are various choices of stunning islands in our country we can think of for holiday destination. Among them are Tioman Island, Perhentian Island, Pangkor Island, Mabul Island and Redang Island. There is a total of 7 islands in Johor which are open for tourism. Five of them are accessible via Mersing Jetty and the other two via Tanjung Leman Jetty. The five islands are Dayang and Aur Island, Pemanggil Island, Rawa Island, Tengah Island and Besar Island.

  1. Dayang Island and Aur Island

This two side by side islands would take approximately 4 hours to reach depending on the sea condition from Mersing Jetty. They are actually a famous fishing spot that attracted a lot of local and foreign recreational fishermen to the destination. Moreover, it is also a destination for scuba diving sport where complete scuba facilities can be found there. Although small, the cost to have a vacation at these wonderful islands may be higher than usual as they draw in foreign tourists for scuba diving and recreational fishing.

2. Pemanggil Island

Pemanggil Island is the one destination to choose for marine life lovers as there are dolphins around the island’s oceans in May and June. Soaring grandly in the heart of Pemanggil Island is a huge boulder known locally as Batu Buau. It is regarded as the sacred guardian of the Island. For those who seek for adventure, hill protrusion of the island makes a tricky climb and the summit holds an intrinsic picturesque beauty of the far-reaching sea. 3. Rawa Island

Rawa Island is where all the fun water activities are located. Just 30 minutes ride from Mersing Jetty, Rawa Island is truly a paradise island filled with many caves for exploration and the offshore coral reefs is rich with marine life that is perfect for scuba divers. Rawa Island has its own ferry service that operates on a daily basis can carry 12 people at a time.

4. Tengah Island

Tengah Island is the ideal place for swimming and sunbathing as it is famous for the crystal clear waters surrounding it. With privately owned luxury island resort services, the place is a tropical island paradise for the privileged visitors. This unharmed gem of an Island is also attractive to the turtle that lay their eggs here from June to August and also to other marine life that colourfully populate its waters making it an exciting snorkelling destination.

5. Besar Islands

An island surrounded by crystal-clear azure waters where visitors can actually have a sight of the abundant reefs surrounding the island. Besar Island is known for its tranquillity and serenity.
