Raya is coming and most of us are going to start traveling soon. “Balik Kampung” during Raya season is one truly challenging task in Malaysia especially if your kampong takes more than 3 hours drive. Believe it or not, during Raya season in Malaysia, the 3 hours drive is going to be extended until 2 or 3 hours more. So, as a concerned citizen, we should always make preparation for the journey so we don’t cause trouble on the road and cause danger to other drivers.
Let’s take note of these 5 tips:
- 1. Service or tune-up your vehicle.
For vehicle owners, allocate some time to look at the condition of your car and send her to revamp the black oil if need to. Check the tire condition, steering alignment and brake functions as well. These measures are important to make sure your car does not break down along the way and causes traffic disturbance.
- 2. Get a good night’s sleep.
Getting a good night sleep is important when you have a long day ahead of you. In order to prevent sleep driving, you must have a long night sleep and take an extra nap, if needed, before the journey to be fully awake especially if you are a driver to many passengers.
- 3. Gear up for safety.
In any case of emergency, make sure you have all the supplies needed to help you in these situations. We recommend packing an emergency kit that includes: water, warm blankets, a flashlight, jumper cables, flares, tools to change tires, charger for your cell phone and the first-aid kit.
- 4. Plan your stops.
It is crucial on long road trips to get out of your car and stretch your legs every two hours or so. It is to freshen-up your body and senses. Plan your stops if your journey takes more than 2 hours to go to the bathroom, stretch your legs and arms and get yourselves something to drink if it is not during the daytime fasting period.
- 5. Music on!
Listening to music is the best when you are driving a long trip. Now is the time to catch up to the latest singles and albums of your favorite artist. Plus, listening to your favorite songs help you drive better. If you’re with a lot of passengers, decide on a song that suits the interest of everybody.
